Support the Light

Prepared for the future, destined for eternity. Invest in the future, invest in your children’s education.

As C.S. Lewis stated in his essay, “The Weight of Glory”:

“The only people who achieve much are those who want knowledge so badly that they seek it while the conditions are still unfavorable. Favorable conditions never come.”

Those who recognize this create their own favorable conditions.

We live in a world where darkness seems to prevail and challenges the light at every turn. A small, but bright light shines in St. Augustine at St. John’s Academy. We hope as you experience the light of St. John’s Academy, you will join our efforts to train virtuous scholars! We need your prayer support as well as your financial support to meet our goal to provide the students with an excellent education grounded in a solid Christian worldview.

The ancient Greek philosopher Pythagoras, when asked if he were a wise man replied, “No, I am only a lover of wisdom.” A wise man indeed! One of the goals of St. John’s Academy is to produce virtuous scholars. What does that mean to us at St. John’s Academy?

Certainly the wisdom we seek originates as stated in Proverbs 1:7: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of all knowledge.” In Proverbs 24:3 we have further definition: “By wisdom a house is built, by understanding it is made secure and by knowledge its rooms are filled with all kinds of costly and pleasant possessions.” In seeking to establish a curriculum that can mold and guide our students we find along the way that we as parents and teachers are challenged to become virtuous scholars as well. That is an exciting and demanding task. As a faculty that strives to teach all subjects from a Christian worldview, integrated with the knowledge and love of the Lord, we constantly need to exercise our love of wisdom and seek after it with all our hearts and minds. We will never be finished really with this task. We hope that through our example your children will be instilled with the same desire that motivates us daily, that they will never be content with what they know but will always have the desire to learn and be a lover of wisdom. To be a light in a dark world. So we ask you to support St. John’s Academy.

With your financial support we can raise the standard and create those favorable conditions. It requires sacrifice, steadfastness, and strength. As we stand together to pursue this common goal, it is our prayer that we may succeed and, in so doing, bring glory and honor to God.
