HOW REMOTE ARE WE?

OUR LOCATION:
Alaska’s Anvik River Lodge is in the middle Yukon area of the state in Western Alaska. We own a 5-acre parcel of land that was homesteaded back in the early 70’s. We are surrounded by federal lands, making us the only fishing lodge on the entire river. The lodge itself is located about 70 miles up the Anvik River from the confluence of the Yukon and Anvik Rivers. To give you a little better idea of our location – as the crow flies – we’re about 450 miles northwest of Anchorage or 130 miles SE of Nome across the Nulato Range which protects us from the inclement coastal weather found in the Nome & Unalakleet area.

COMPARED TO THE REST OF ALASKA:
Unlike the crowded Cook Inlet-Kenai region with its 600+ guide businesses that utilize an area smaller than the state of Washington, or the famous Bristol Bay region with its 250+ guide businesses, some of which are located in what seems like just a stone’s throw away from each other, the freshwater fishing operators in the Arctic/Yukon/Upper Kuskokwim region are spread throughout an area that is geographically almost as large as one half the size of the continental United States.

As you can imagine, the challenges of running such a remote operation can be daunting to most business owners. But, rest assured that since we’ve lived over 40 years in Western Alaska we know how to get things done and can jump any hurdles that may stand in the way of providing you with the best vacation possible.

“What a great adventure! The lodge, miles and miles from civilization, provided all the comforts of home. The food was excellent. The fishing, out of this world. Better and better each day. More than I ever thought it would be”
